In August 2005 ago we bought an investment unit in Brisbane. At the time Brisbane City Council hit us up for an 'Ownership Transfer Fee Charge' of $55.
Late last year we bought our future home in Brisbane. This time the Brisbane City Council has charged us $94 for the same thing.
I guess the increase isn't indexed to the CPI or maybe it is and there's been a lot more inflation going on than I realised. Or perhaps it's just another completely unjustifiable, book-balancing rip-off from your local council for what these days should be a database adjustment taking about 2 minutes of someone's time.
