They're a cunning lot up at Woolies. Next time you're in your local branch check out the positioning of their own 'Select' brand. It's at or just below my eye level and the first thing you see when you look for something. We've also noted a few brands starting to disappear off their shelves; Patak's curry pastes which is a bit distressing because otherwise I've got no idea where to get Jalfrezi paste from and the Handbrake has noticed that King Island Dairy yoghurt has also disappeared, a major blow I can assure you. I wonder how long it will be before the drive to simplify brands actually has a negative impact on sales.
Just for a change we wandered into Aldi the other day (at least partly because of the above problem) and it felt like we were in a foreign country, 90% of the brands were different to those in Woolies. I can't say we'd make the change to Aldi but Woolies is starting to stretch the friendship at the moment.
And if Typepad doesn't do something about this painful new interface I'll go shopping for blog software elsewhere as well.
