Thursday was a tedious day. I pre-empted the alarm again and woke up at 3.36 and watched the best part of a film on the ABC until it was time to go outside and wait for my lift at 10 to 5. We got to the airport at 5, followed by the pilot at 10 past 5 and then stood around like shags on a rock until 6 when it became apparent that the plane hadn't been refuelled from the day before. By the time that was sorted we eventually took off at about 6.30. Then we flew up to Chillagoe which takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes. When we got there we couldn't land due to the cloud cover and so we flew back to Townsville. Bearing in mind that I hadn't had any dinner the night before (3 QANTAS lavash biscuits and a thimble of pesto dip the evening before didn't count) nor any breakfast I was getting a mite hungry by this stage. Eventually it was obvious we weren't going anywhere in a hurry so we all trooped round to the main terminal for a coffee and breakfast. I opted for a bacon, cheese and egg toastie which sounds nice but wasn't - compressed to buggery by the toasting thing and completely tasteless.
We took off again at 12.25 and finally managed to land in Chillagoe. What a wasted day. I'm beginning to hate all this plane travel and hanging around airports. Bonus flights across the North Queensland cloudscape aren't helping much either.
