I've been tinkering with Facebook for a few weeks but being an anti-social sort of person I'm not exactly rolling in 'friends' - 5 to be precise, one daughter and four former colleagues. I can easily understand why it has started to 'take off' since it seems to be able to do most things all in one package; email, photos, mini blog + comments, common interest groups etc etc. Somehow, to me anyway, it allows a degree of interaction which feels more natural than any of the individual parts would be. In the last few weeks through Facebook I've had more interaction with my eldest daughter in the UK than we would ever have had over the phone or via email. She's not a big computer user, yet she seems to have taken to Facebook like a duck to water. We've just started playing Scrabulous together. Judging from the photos of users I'd have to be right up the wrong end of the user age spectrum but I have to admit I'm impressed by the application. I can see why Google wants a slice of it.
