Telstra's Bigpond ISP is on to a definite winner here. We've got a Broadband subscription with unlimited downloads which costs us $60.95 a month. Not bad, and I'm sure I could probably do better by shopping around, but switching providers just seems to cause total chaos so we pay the price for sticking with the status quo thereby not having to change email addresses etc etc. I've regularly paid the bill on a monthly basis, usually a few days before it's due. I paid the last one on the 3rd July, 10 days before it was due.
Checking through the mail this morning I see that there's a new look Bigpond bill with new account numbers, due by the 5th August for the princely sum of $121.90. Yes, that's right, twice the size of the usual monthly bill but only a month after I paid the last one and due less than a month after the last one. Apparently Telstra has decided that they now want to be paid a month in advance. How to squeeze 13 months of income into a 12 month financial year. Great trick, Sol, love it. When I've got over my feelings of injustice I'll revel in the joys of also being a Telstra shareholder.
