When we clearfelled the back garden about nine months ago not much survived. One or two hardy species popped their heads up through the new mulch and have since been rewarded by being fed and watered. One of them went into flower while I was away at work (typical !) but the Handbrake took a great close-up:
Now all we need to know is, what is it ?
