One of Townsville's arhcitectural gems. The house was built in 1889 for Charters Towers mining magnate, John Deane. It has been the site of a commercial travellers' club and home to a number of medical practitioners. It is suggested that the first x-rays in Australia were taken here. Not the shadow of the palm on the wall of the adjacent building. Even in August the early morning sun in Townsville casts a strong shadow.
